GATAKIS GEORGIOS

The eye surgeon - oculist GATAKIS GEORGIOS is a graduate of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During his specialization training, he performed a large number of cataract surgeries, with the method of phacoemulsification, and was specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.

He was trained in the correction, with the use of Laser, of myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism and presbyopia in Crete, by the creator of the Lasik method, professor Pallikaris. At the same time, he has published a large number of works in scientific ophthalmology journals, while since 2003 he works privately and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Diagnostic equipment:

At his medical office the eye surgeon Georgios Gatakis performs OCT (optical coherence tomography) scanning and is equipped with the Non Mydriatic Retinal Camera, for the early detection, monitoring and treatment of the following diseases: macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions.

Moreover, he performs intravitreal injections for macular disorders and has a full equipment for the early detection and monitoring of glaucoma: visual field test, OCT, measurement of the ganglion cell complex (GCC) thickness, pachymeter, GOLDMAN tonometer, air tonometer, optic disc photography.

At the same time, the doctor is equipped with a special refractometer for the measurement of myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism in infants and small children, while, finally, he is equipped with a YAG Laser, for the correction of secondary cataract.
