NISKOPOULOU MANIA, MD, PhD

Oculist, Eye surgeon NISKOPOULOU MANIA, MD, PhD owns her surgery at Chalandri. She has specialized in Age Related Macular Degeneration, Retinal Pathology and Cataract Surgery.

She received her basic medical training at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She completed most of her training in Ophthalmology in hospitals in the UK, having gained extensive experience in Cataract Surgery and Retinal Pathology.

She received her PhD with the title: ‘Optical Coherence Tomography and Cystoid Macular Oedema following cataract surgery’ with Honours. She was granted a fellowship in Medical Retina from Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK, one of the leading centres in Ophthalmic Care and Research, after having completed more than one year of sub-specialising.

Since 2003 she has been working as a Cataract Surgeon and Retinal Specialist at hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom. She has been Staff Grade in Frimley Park Hospital,Surrey until 2004 and Medical Retina Consultant, as well as Clinical Lead in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service in Moorfields Eye Hospital, Croydon from 2012 to 2015. From April 2008 till April 2014 she was a research associate at the Retinal department of the A’ Ophthalmological Clinic of the University of Athens.

Since 2009 she has worked in her own practice at Chalandri while recently she has started to work in her private practice in France. She is the president of the Greek Vitreo-Retinal Society.

She participates at many Pan-Hellenic and International Congresses and Meetings with lectures and round table discussions. At Greece, she co-operates with modern opthalmological centres at which she performs surgery and specialised retinal examinations; specifically she is an associate of the Eye Day Clinic and the Metropolitan Hospital.

Dr Niskopoulou can give a full ophthalmic examination at her office for adults, as well as screening for children.
