HALKITIS SHIPYARDS

HALKITIS SHIPYARDS was founded in 1922 in Perama and was a traditional shipyard, that built wooden vessels and repaired and maintained all types of recreational crafts.

In 1994, being the pioneer in the sector, it proceeded to the expansion of its facilities and to the installation of a crane for the recovery of vessels up to 280 tons. At the same time, it integrated new methods in its production procedure and its management.

In 2009, maintaining its leading position in its sector and being able to meet the increased requirements of its customers, it completed the following investments in new technology, building the most modern facilities in the sector of repair, maintenance, reconstruction and building of ships:

A new expansion of its land spaces by 6,000 square meters took place, as well as the upgrading of the old land spaces with the reconstruction of the entire floor of an area of 18,000 square meters.

A dock of a width of 12m was constructed and a repair pier of a total length of 110m was created, where ships of a length up to 120m can moor. The installation and beginning of operation of an ultramodern, third-generation, jib crane (travel lift) for the recovery of vessels, of a lifting capacity of 560 tons also took place.

Moreover, a transport trailer for the transport of vessels up to 300 tons was installed as well as a medium voltage 800 kVA substation, with the redesign, at the same time, of its electrical network.

Finally, the drinking and fire-extinguishing water network were redesigned and the installation of programs for the effective monitoring of the production process, as well the installation of equipment of environmental management took place.
