Anyone who visits Heraklion, the metropolis of Crete, can easily understand the size of this city, and the reason so many visitors are excited by it. It was called Handakas for the Saracens and Cantia for the Venetians. Nowadays, Heraclion, is made up of the new and old town. Lotzia is considered as the most elegant Venetian monument that won the EUROPA NOSTRA award in 1987 for the best renewed and well preserved European monument of the year. Daidalos street is ideal for shopping as it is the commercial pedestrian street in the heart of the city. Take a moment to relax having a coffe in Korai street . Also visit the archeological museum, the History museum of Crete, the Battle museum of Crete and the Natural History museum.
